Klaus Porsch invites you to walk right into his paintings to feel the sun on your face and smell the tang of salt air. Whether they portray a summer day on the Gulf of Mexico or a peaceful sunset, his beautifully detailed landscapes and seascapes reflect his love of Florida. Painting en plain air and in his studio, Porsche communicates his attachment to the unique beauty of Florida’s natural environments. Meet the artist at the June 5 open house. Enjoy Largo artist Mick Knight’s “pastel studies”, demonstrating unexpected realities contained in landscapes at the micro and macro visual levels. Knight utilizes techniques from his academic, intuitive, and “common intellectual sense” visual arts background to capture fleeting pastel images of landscapes. To learn more, call (727) 453-6500.

Can you imagine a more beautiful setting for a sunset celebration? The Treasure Island Beach Trail runs behind the gulf front motels and hotels for a quarter mile, directly on the beach. Saturday Sunsets on the Trail is a sunset celebration that takes place along Treasure Island's gulf front beach trail on the first and third Saturdays of June, July & August and the first Saturday in September. This free family event features artisans, crafters, street performers and live musical entertainment, weather permitting, from 5pm until 9pm.

The St. Petersburg College Planetarium is a “star theater” that can accurately simulate the night sky at any time or location on Earth. Weekly Planetarium Shows The Planetarium at St. Pete College. 69th St. N at 5th Avenue, Natural Science Bldg., Rm. 205. Learn how to spot the Big Dipper, Orion's Belt or Cassiopeia during free weekly showings. After the show, take your knowledge to the rooftop observatory for telescope viewing, weather permitting. "Flashback" performs for Music Fest. One of your favorite bands, "Flashback", will be with us, again on Sunday, August 2nd, in the Waterside Courtyard. Performing your favorite classic rock tunes. join us for facing and/or listening in the Courtyard every Sunday for our Music Fest on the Water. (Every Sunday indefinitely) The landmark Pier in the heart of St. Petersburg is a unique piece of Florida architecture that offers visitors a chance to experience the waterfront along Tampa Bay. Located at the end of a 1/4-mile-long approach, this five story inverted pyramid features shops, restaurants, its own aquarium, live music and even boat docks. The top floor of The Pier combines both the tropical dining of Cha Cha Coconuts with a huge observation deck, giving the visitor a truly unique observation point on Tampa Bay. The Pier features plenty of parking, complete with trolley service linking the Pier to the rest of downtown. Every Sunday from Aug 02, 2009 to Aug 01, 2010.

Heritage Village, 11909 125th St. N., Largo
Enjoy a 55-minute outdoor guided walking tour that provides a brief history and overview of Heritage Village and its structures. The cost is $2 per person. Groups of 20 or more must call 582-2125 to register. Heritage Village is closed Mondays, Tuesdays and on all county holidays.
